The Big Boo Cast
Authors / speakers Melanie Shankle and Sophie Hudson - also known as Big Mama and BooMama on their blogs - talk about all the important stuff: faith, family, friends, football, fashion, and food. Plus, of course, their hair.

Well, I would welcome you to our annual Christmas podcast - except I don't think Melanie and I have actually recorded a Christmas podcast in about five years. We are far too fond of flying by the seat of our collective pants to plan anything in advance, much less to commit to it on a yearly basis. We like to tell ourselves this is part of our charm, but it's actually probably a little annoying.

This time around we talk about a bunch of different stuff: Melanie's theory about Pinterest, Christmas with little ones (newsflash: our kids aren't really "little ones" anymore), TV shows that make us paranoid, holiday treats, my ongoing eyelash issues (and Melanie's solution), and our observations about overly familiar customer service. So basically we just ramble, but since we recorded this one on December 21, VOILA: CHRISTMAS PODCAST.

Also, for some reason my Mississippi accent is real strong this time around. I watched Steel Magnolias the night before, and apparently it triggered some dormant speech patterns. I say this because there's a point when I pronounce "our" like "ire," so I hope you folks from other parts of the country don't require a translator.

Merry Christmas, y'all. So grateful for you!

As is our usual tendency, Melanie and I recorded this podcast without anything even remotely resembling a plan. We talked about all sorts of stuff, though: Thanksgiving, Christmas, college football, TV, beauty products, and Melanie's preoccupation with a youthful eyebrow.

I had no idea that a youthful eyebrow was even a thing. Suffice it to say that I got me an eyebrow education.

Also, I had my microphone too close to me, so occasionally there is some popping. I'm just as sorry as I can be. But if there weren't at least one technical snafu per podcast, it wouldn't be us. Or I guess it would be a professional version of us, and I think we all know that we don't really operate that way.

Hope y'all enjoy it!

This time around we talk about rugs (seriously. rugs), old youth group skits, air travel, why we're at the mercy of dentists, teacher conferences, movies (and how Gravity seems to be a really big deal), pasta (and also cheese), our deep, heartfelt enthusiasm for Les Miles, and who knows what else.

So, to sum up: we're all over the place. But what else is new?

I'm not gonna lie. We're not quite as high-energy in this one. Why, you wonder? Because we were tired. Melanie had a big weekend cheering for her Aggies, and I got way too invested in Sunday night's Miss America pageant - which left me a little on the drowsy side come Monday. Even still, we cover some of our favorite topics: college football, TV (specifically, why I did not enjoy Breaking Bad), Miss America, eyelashes, skin issues, more football, etc.

Hope y'all enjoy!

Well, Melanie and I decided to record this podcast on a Tuesday afternoon whim, and as always, we had no plan, no rhyme, no reason. We did, however, have some thoughts about Justin Timberlake, John Mayer's new album (Ben Rector's, too), the Ben Affleck-as-Batman brouhaha, why I liked Argo, college football, and Candy Crush.

It's all very academic. SCHOLARLY, you might say.

Well, I'm afraid that we've hit an all-time podcasting low in terms of our topics. Because we discuss all manner of mundane matters. There's weather, feet, postpartum, the African dust storm (I had no idea this was even a thing), more weather, pajamas, college football - and that's not even the half of it. We even managed to work salads into the conversation.

I'm not gonna lie. If you make it all the way through this one, it's probably because you're a relative.

Nonetheless, we're just as tickled as we can be that we have recorded and lo, even posted our fourth podcast of the summer. This is surely some sort of record.

Melanie's roof is being replaced in this particular podcast, but we didn't let it stop us. Well, we didn't let it stop us until it sounded like someone was about to fall through Melanie's ceiling. And at that point, we stopped.

So it's a little short, but it's a random as ever. Enjoy, y'all!

Well, just like always, in this podcast we cover a vast array of disconnected and unrelated topics. But if you were looking for an organized, professional podcast experience, you probably wouldn't be listening to the two of us, now would you?

Enjoy, y'all.

Well, here's our yearly podcast episode.

The topics, as always, are varied: college baseball, working out, shorts, phobias, skin care, and Taylor Swift.

Though not necessarily in that order.
